June update

In the girls group I started making my Mask for the masquerade ball coming up in a couple weeks. I chose the

mask shape I wanted, traced it onto some card and then painted it with silver paint. I then sprinkled silver glitter

over the entire thing, I added blue sparkle trim,  gems and pretty pink feathers, it looks wonderful.

I have enjoyed having a warm foot spa in massage and wellbeing as I relaxed in the lazyboy chair.

In sewing I helped my friend Murray by making arm-rests for his chair as well as making cute and fun hair-ties

and bows.

In sports, I played a really fun board game that was on the floor and was so big that I was the counter that moved!

We rolled the dice and then did the action that was on the card for each number. It was a fun challenge, especially

dribbling the ball 10 times..

I played baskeyball using the brand new low, mobile basketball net, which I found so much easier to shoot into, I

also went to Fantail reserve to play a game of petanque in the sunshine.

In Cooking I made a delicious pasta, I helped cook the sauce and sprinkled cheese on the top. It was super yummy! I also made some blueberry muffins to be enjoyed with my friends at the masquerade ball coming up, I added ingredients to the ball and mixed it all together.

In art, I got creative by making a traditional peg Maori woman in a cloak. We all made a model of a marae together

and I placed my woman in there, it looks amazing and I really like it.

I had a fun outing to the rose gardens, I looked at the beautiful orchids in the green house and then soaked up the

warm sun amongst the roses on a seat. I went to the Citz club to play pool, it was fun having a go and cheering

on my friends.

I have been helping clean up the gardens around the center, weeding and watering, its looking fabulous!

In music I have been enjoying having different types of discos, A cowboy disco, a light disco with my favourite

songs and a karaoke disco where I sang into the microphone.

It's been a great month!

The month of May

I have been having fun in girls group. I made math bombs, helping to mix together all the ingredients, I made them green and red. 8 decided to add citrus oil and it smelt lovely. We had hit tea, the table was decorated with a table cloth and flowers. It was lovely to enjoy a hot cup of passionfruit and vanilla herbal tea while we ate buttered pikelets that we made and talked about what we have been getting up to lately. Another day we made fluffies with milk in Quirks cafe. I listed to the Witch in the cherry tree story and used AI to make up a funny story about us visiting a cat cafe. I had lots of fun. I had pampering days where I had my nails done and a wacky hair day, my hair was spiked and a I had yellow flowers in my hair. I looked like a cute bumble bee.

I was very lucky to go the Holy trinity church to attend an Operatunity concert, it was a Hoedown showdown, it was very cool and I had so much fun.

In sewing I decided to make a shoulder bag. I chose a pretty fabric with blue starfish and found a lining with seashells. I have finished pining my fabric ready to sew together.

I had a wellbeing session all about positive affirmations. My friends all said things that they liked about me which made me feel really good. We wrote it on paper, which I read to myself in the mirror as I smiled and said, “I am awesome”.

I made the most delicious mini blueberry cheesecakes in cooking, I helped break up and mix the biscuits with butter to make the bases and sprinkled on berries. They were so cute and yummy.

on an outing I went to the perfumery section of Farmers, we smelled beautiful perfumes and got to try our favourite. We were given free samples and were told we could come back to get our makeup done. I really like the sound of that.

We had a special visitor Devon Briggs visit our centre, a Paralympic gold medalist, He showed us how medals, his cool racing bike and told us how story. I was very impressed.

What an awesome month! D.H.

A very special visit

Today we had a visit from one of New Zealand’s most high-profile para-cycling athletes, Devon Briggs. We asked him so many questions, and it was so inspiring to hear about his sporting journey. Gv

Outing

I had so much fun this morning going to Tauranga Crossing. We went to JB Hi-Fi and then went for a walk around and enjoyed the sunshine outside. GV
